Follow Up Boss Tells You Who to Call, Not If You're On Pace

I will say it plainly because it is true: Follow Up Boss is one of the best CRMs in the business. Clean, fast, great integrations, and it does follow-up better than most tools twice its price. If you are running your contacts through it, do not change a thing.

But a CRM, even a great one, answers one kind of question: who do I talk to next. That is necessary. It is not the whole game. The question that actually decides your year is one Follow Up Boss was never built to answer.

The question a contact list cannot answer

Are you on pace for your take-home goal, today, yes or no? To answer that you need three things a CRM does not connect:

  • A take-home number translated into a required daily activity number.
  • Today's actual activity measured against that number.
  • Every open deal scored and rolled into a live forecast of what you will actually keep.

Follow Up Boss tracks the conversations as tasks and calls. It does not tell you that you are fourteen conversations behind pace this week, or that the deal you are counting on has sat in the same stage for twenty three days and is quietly slipping.

Keep the CRM, add the dashboard

Closing Day is not trying to replace Follow Up Boss. It is the business dashboard that sits next to it. You set the take-home goal once and the Goal Wizard does the math backwards to a daily conversation number. You log activity in seconds. Your pipeline shows every deal with a SmartClose win probability so you know which ones to push, save, or let go. And one number tells you what your pipeline is worth right now.

Your CRM is a contact list. The dashboard is the part that runs the business. They are two tools for two jobs, and they work better together than either does alone.

Bottom line

Do not leave a CRM you like. Just stop asking it a question it was never designed to answer, and put something next to it that can.

Your CRM is a contact list. Closing Day runs your business.
